[Driving under the influence of amphetamine and metamphetamine].

چکیده
BACKGROUND The CNS stimulatory agents amphetamine and methamphetamine are often detected in blood samples from apprehended subjects driving under the influence of drugs. MATERIAL AND METHODS Relevant literature was identified through searches in PubMed and Google Scholar. The current state of knowledge regarding effects of amphetamines on traffic behaviour is reviewed and discussed. RESULTS Limited epidemiological data and a small number of experimental studies using low doses of amphetamines are available. Low amphetamine doses have been associated with enhanced performance in studies of sleep-deprived subjects. Theoretical considerations and empirical observations suggest that higher doses may impede performance, but not in accordance with usual concentration/effect relationships. INTERPRETATION There is a conspicuous lack of data on how to handle cases of driving under the influence of amphetamines.

The effects of Adrenergic agents on the dopaminergic-induced sniffing
There is evidence indicating that adrenoceptor mechanisms may influence some of the behaviors in rat. However the role of adrenoceptor agents on sniffing has not been identified. In the present study, the influence of adrenoceptor agents on sniffing induced by apomorphine and amphetamine has been investigated. Male Albino rats, weighing 150-250 g were used for all experiments. The behavior wa...

Background and purpose: Met amphetamine is a very strong stimulant which intensively influences the central nervous system. Many researches have established the significance of experiencing consumption desire in addiction. This study aimed at assessing the effect of repeated magnetic stimulus from skull (rTMS) on decrease of desire of drug abuse in addicts to metamphetamine (MA). Materials and...
متن کاملDrugs and driving: the Finnish perspective.
Drugs can cause behavioural impairment of the driver's ability to operate safely That impairment of driving ability can be documented, and biological fluids can be tested for drugs. Most countries have legislation that covers driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Some countries have introduced zero-tolerance laws (per se laws), which prohibit the operation of a motor vehicle whil...
متن کاملComparison of the sensitivity and specificity of six immunoassays for the detection of amphetamines in urine.
We analyzed 225 urine samples with FPIA (Abbott Amphetamine/Methamphetamine II on ADx and AxSYM), EMIT (Emit II Plus Monoclonal Amphetamine/Metamphetamine assay and EMIT II Plus Amphetamines assay, EMIT N), and KIMS (standard protocol and MDMA protocol, KIMS and KIMS X, respectively) immunoassays and compared their sensitivity and specificity. All assays were calibrated and used semi-quantitati...
متن کاملDrugs of abuse, driving and traffic safety.
Roadside studies indicate that 1-15% of drivers drive under the influence of one or more drugs of abuse. After drug use, drivers are more often culpable for an accident than non-users. Information on drugs and traffic safety comes from roadside studies, epidemiological research, experimental studies on driving-related skills, and on-the-road driving tests. Road-side studies show that drivers mo...
